EXHIBITION

Madge Gill

WILLIAM MORRIS GALLERY

06   /   2019

Born in Walthamstow, Madge Gill was a self-taught visionary artist. She spent most of her life working in East London, predominantly under the guise of Myrninerest. This exhibition brought together drawings, textiles and large scale embroideries, many of which have never been exhibited before. Designed by Plaid, we made the main central showcases with tulipwood which was hand painted dark grey and were illuminated within aluminium channels. Along with the other long display cases we also mirrored two walls to create a feeling endlessness to the ‘Crucifixion of the Soul’ wall hung piece. Curated by Sophie Dutton.
